Minsk is ready to host the 2nd European Games, according to Spyros Capralos, Chairman of the Coordination Commission of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).
Speaking at the EOC seminar in Vienna, Spyros Capralos stressed that he is sure that the Games in Minsk will be a huge success.
“There has been a lot of work done in Minsk so that we reach the second edition of the European Games, and I would like to congratulate the entire team and I am sure that the Games will be a big success,” Capralos said. “All venues are ready and operational and are waiting for athletes.”
The EOC representative also noted that non-European countries have shown an interest in the European Games.
“Some 43 European countries have bought the right to broadcast the sports event. Another seven will show daily highlights of the Games,” he said. “The event will also be broadcast in 83 more countries around the world. The European Games enjoy such popularity because they will feature leading European athletes, and we are just a year ahead of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The EOC is closely cooperating with the Olympic Channel operated by the International Olympic Committee to broadcast the event to even more countries.”
The Deputy CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Anatol Kotau noted that tickets for Games events are selling well with karate, gymnastics, beach soccer, and athletics tickets being in highest demand.
